Casa Esperanza News
Hola. It was great to come back to Canada and visit our family, church and friends. Sorry that we were not able to see everyone, but hopefully next year as we plan on returning in mid July for a month. At that time we will also be helping Jelissa (our oldest daughter) move back to Canada as she plans on going to College to become a nurse.
There is never a dull moment around here. One day as I had just finished picking up our 3 youngest Casa kids from school, there was drive by shooting where a spray of bullets hit a mother and 2 children who happened to be there at the wrong time and place, which was right in front of our school. A 5 year old girl died that day. Please pray for this family during this time as my heart goes out for their loss. I couldn`t imagine the pain they feel. I thank the Lord too that we could have easily been a part of this tragic story if we would have not left as early as we did. This was the first time anything like this has happened so close to home. Please continue to pray God`s protection over us.
Justin (our oldest son) also was in a motorbike accident and ended up with a very severe infection in his foot and leg. Justin still hasn't been able to walk, but the antibiotics seem to be finally working and he should make a full recovery in another week or so. Thank you for your prayers. We were really starting to get concerned. Please pray for me too as I have done something to my back and have been on strong pain killers and muscle relaxants. We are still asking and praying for Chiropractors, Therapists and dentists to come and donate their services here. It is so much needed here. Many of these services are not available here. Anytime would be good and appreciated.
Now for some exciting Casa news. We have received 4 more children in our children's home. A 13 year old boy named Marcelino and his 12 year old sister Ana. We also welcome Quadelupe who is a 14 year old girl and Rosie who is 13 years old along with her 24 day old baby named Fernando. All of these children have been recently rescued and in need of sponsors. We now have 35 children in our home. Please pray as we need to raise money to build a 3rd story level on our Casa Esperanza home so we can continue to take more of these children in. As you can see that we are not only becoming a House of Hope for these children, but a home and refuge for these helpless children in crises. It always breaks my heart when I hear what these children have gone through, but it amazes me more how quickly they are impacted and transformed with the Love of God. It is a privilege for us to be a part of all what God is doing here and we enjoy getting the big hugs and smiles every day here. It makes it all worth it.
It is still rainy season
and we are enjoying the cooler temperatures. Everything here is
getting so green and lush. It is great to be back and we are enjoying
the challenges and growing pains at the same time. God has been so
good and we feel very blessed to be here. We will try to send you
monthly reports and update pictures to keep you in the loop and we
always enjoy hearing from you too. Please check out feviva.org website as it has changed with more updates, pictures
and ministry opportunities. There is a new radical MTS (missionary
training school) program happening in the new year as well as a new
international accredited Bible School starting up. FeViva World
Missions is growing with many opportunities and areas to serve and we
are also expanding now in Kenya and Sudan. In September, the first
house is being built in the Village of Faith Project for families
in crisis. Its great to see so many things changing here in
Guatemala, because of people like you who make it happen. Thank you
again for your support and prayers. We thank God that we have finally
paid off our personal debts in Canada and are moving forward to all
that God has for us here. We do feel that we want to make this our
home for many years to come, Lord willing. Blessings on everyone.
The
Peters Family.
