Casa Esperanza Update
Thank you to all of you who pray and support us in our work here in Guatemala. We are definitely expending our tent pegs, as we have received seven more children in the last month. We have hired one more worker for the home, and are in process of hiring one more for nights. We will have 12 staff members, and 37 kids age 2 months to 17 years. God is good....
Two of our newest editions to our family are a 13 year old girl named Rosie and her 2 month old baby boy named Fernandio. She was living with her boyfriend when her father returned from working in the States, and reported the situation to the authorities. Rosie and Fernandio were removed from their home and brought to us. We recently attended a court hearing where by the judge gave Rosie the choice to have her 20 year old boyfriend put in jail for 6 years for child abuse, or for her and Fernando to come and stay at Casa Esperanza until she turns 18. Praise the Lord, she chose to come and stay with us. She will be able to continue her studies, and learn and grow in her knowledge and understanding of the bible and develop her relationship with Jesus. We also received a little girl 6 years old and her name is Paola. she has 2 brothers here as well. We have been trying to rescue her for over a year now. Her mom has been avoiding the authorities, and moving from place to place. So Praise the Lord she is here with us . It was a great victory to finally lay eyes on her and hold her in my arms and now that she is safe. The mother was living with a guy that has been abusing her for sometime now. Paola is adjusting to her new home, but she needs a lot of prayer and healing . Please pray for her....
Our family is doing well. Steve has been working hard restructuring and getting a lot of the legal aspects of Fe Viva ministry in order, as well as teaching and training our casa staff in weekly meetings, and daily situations. We are very blessed to have a full time translator working with us here. It enables us to deal with things as soon as they happen and to be able to use each situation as a learning and teaching opportunity. I have been busy helping with the process of decisions made on a daily basis regarding staff and children issues. Also trying to spread myself around , with our growing number of children. Justin is doing well, and busy with his youth ministry. We are blessed to have him, and his girlfriend Cindy join us on Saturdays for a day off. He has been stretched and challenged in every turn, and is growing in leaps and bounds in the Lord. We are very proud of him... Jelissa has been working hard on her studies and is still planning on returning to Canada next summer to attend OUC for her LPN course. She has been enjoying special time with our little ones; she has them here at our house every Thursday morning for a little children's program. The children enjoy homemade snacks, songs, a story, and playtime. This is a very special time for them as with our large number of children in the home our little ones mostly stay home. We also received a little five month old little boy named Pablo, we are caring for him in our home for now. He came to us with a very high fever and very timid. We don't know much about him yet. It is fun to have a little one in the house again. Jelissa has also been translating in our medical clinic for our nurse. She speaks very well, and continues to study. Jenea has been working hard on her music. She has been writing songs, and desires to produce 2 CDs, one in English and one in Spanish. The Lord has really inspired her. She also serves on a worship team with Justin and some of his friends from Abdeel. She has also been teaching 2 of our kids piano. God is good... God says "he will pour out his spirit upon our offspring". He is faithful in all things. Jesse is doing great. He has become the children's translator when families come here. It comes so natural to him, kids helping kids. He is presently studying for his final exams... yes in grade one they have exams....
Well that's all for now, may the Lord bless you and keep you, may he shine his face upon you and be gracious to you and give you peace.
Blessings from
Steven & Patricia, Justin, Jelissa, Jenea & Jesse.
